Interactive Sound Wall by Anjali Patel
Sound is one of the most important senses, but when offered the choice to be blind or deaf, people are quick to abandon sound in favor of sight. Though usually considered secondary to vision, sound has more power than people give it credit. Sound provides a myriad of important influences that people take for granted, and this project aims to highlight the beauty of sound and space. The design’s reaction to sound alters the space around the participant(s), encouraging communication and experimentation, opening their eyes to the subtleties of space and sound. The wall acts as a physical representation of the sound within, so the viewer can determine the atmosphere by reading the structure and acting accordingly.

I took a Grasshopper Script, captured 10 animations by a number slider in Grasshopper in Rhino3D then took the frames created from the animations, edited them in Adobe Premiere Pro, and added audio to it!

A project in progress. Model/more animation/videos to come. So excited for this to become a reality, loving architecture school so far! Basically capturing music/audio to a surface in real time allowing me to stop/start and capture the sound at any moment. Interactive design is kind of my thing at the moment lets see what else I can do with it.

Dream Log: 1/17/12
I had a dream that my friend was put in the criminal justice system for no reason at all for 3 weeks. I came back to set things straight since when i visited him on the 3rd week he had drastically changed, he wasn’t the carefree person we knew anymore he was treated like a criminal so he acted like a criminal, classic interpersonal self-fulfilling prophecy. So I went to the big dogs to set things straight. I approached this black pyramid looking thing, entered inside it was completely empty except for a desk and chair. I explained that my friend didn’t do anything wrong and he should get out earlier since the act of being in prison was causing repercussions to his personality. During this talk, I was extremely afraid for some reason, not only was this a person in power, but he looked like he was capable of doing more harm than the prisoners. He told me my friend would get out on time and wouldn’t be held back since this was his last week I took it and ran for my life, for some reason someone hit me accidentally then I catapulted spinning uncontrollably and landing safely in the street with just the right side of my teeth messed up, this is when they took me back to the dark pyramid to get fixed up by that gruesome man in charge. He asked if he could replace the right side of my teeth with bat teeth, it could have been fear or my recent concussion from falling, but I agreed then knocked out unconscious, when I awoke the left side of my teeth were human the right side were bat (fangs). At first I thought it was kinda cool (half vampire, half mortal) as the dream progressed it became a nightmare, my bat teeth would fall out without any notice, it made my face look crooked and there was no way out. A state of panic awoke me out of this dead end, which actually made me check whether my teeth were really half vampire…
